In 1990, CASA founded the Rosario Castellanos Public Library in a working class neighborhood within San Miguel de Allende as part of our initiative to promote literacy and increase access to information in the community. The library is an educational and cultural space for the general public as well as for our staff, youth promoters, midwives and midwifery students.
In 2004, the library signed an agreement with CONACULTA (National Council for Mexican Culture and the Arts) to be incorporated into their library system.
CASA also supports 12 libraries in rural communities in order to reach a wider population in the state of Guanajuato. The rural libraries are located in schools within San Miguel de Allende and San Luis de la Paz.
