In 1994, CASA opened the first midwifery clinic in Mexico. To this day, the clinic remains the only healthcare institution in the country with an interdisciplinary team of professional midwives, traditional midwives and doctors that offers a variety of health services and promotes natural and humanized childbirth as well as sexual and reproductive rights. It also serves as a teaching hospital for CASA’s professional midwifery students.

Maternal Health Services: A team of trained professional midwives provide prenatal consultations where not only the physical health of the mother and future baby are assessed, but also the emotional wellbeing of the mother and other family members that await the newborn. Topics such a nutrition, prenatal exercise and prenatal counseling are also addressed during appointments. The clinic is open 24/7 in case of emergencies.

Midwives promote respectful childbirth without unnecessary interventions. Massage, aromatherapy, and other natural methods are part of the services provided for the mother during labor.  Mothers are encouraged to give birth in the position of their choosing including water births. CASA was recognized as a Gentle Birth and Waterbirth Center in 2010 by Waterbirth International.

Family Planning: The team of midwives and gynecologists offer free family planning consultations and birth control. Clients are oriented on all available methods so they can chose the option that works best for them.
