To develop diagnostic, therapeutic, and contraceptive skills in the care of women with pregnancy, delivery, postpartum, and newborn responsibility to recognize the patient’s clinical evolution and detect risk factors that indicate measures for their treatment or timely referral.
To achieve established objectives, the students rotate through the following services: Pediatrics, Outpatient, Admission, Expulsion, Recovery, Labor, and Hospitalization in public and private hospitals and internships at CASA’s maternity clinic.
They apply theoretical and practical knowledge by providing comprehensive care to women and their families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period and by caring for the newborn, considering the rights of pregnant women, and being culturally sensitive with particular emphasis on identifying risk factors.
It should be mentioned that the competencies of the midwifery care model are evidence-based, and written with recognition of the different educational routes. The core competencies for essential midwifery practice are complemented by supportive standards and guidelines for training, regulation, and clinical practice of midwifery.
