Art Studio and Graffiti Collective

Graffiti Collective

Our Graffiti Collective was founded in May of 2018 by artists from different neighborhoods and distinct styles. Several of them started out by illegally painting train carts, and now support the Ranchero Pandillero program by elaborating murals around San Miguel de Allende, sending a positive message. The collective seks to support youngsters to leave their violent surroundings and focus instead on art.

Presently, the collective is working with CASA in their “Nos Damos la Mano para Dar a Luz” (A helping hand for birth). This campaign strives to promote natural and accompanied birth, as well as other CASA programs. The collective can be found in various San Miguel neighborhoods elaborating murals related to midwifery, gender equality, sexual health, reading motivation, child development and peace.

We welcome anyone, regardless of neighborhood or gang membership. The mission is to unite without asking gender, religion, or age.

Art Studio

Our art studio was inaugurated July 23rd, 2018. Urban art representatives in San Miguel were invited to decorate it, and make the place their own. Our doors are open for anyone interested in learning more about this hip hop subgender. The art studio serves as a hang out spot for the Graffiti Collective members.

On Thursday afternoons, the collective gets together to talk about new projects and help each other out, with technique workshops, and other tools. The trainings are given by the members themselves, helping initiate the newcomers wishing to become part of the collective.
