To develop diagnostic, therapeutic and contraceptive skills in the care of women with pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care, in order to recognize the clinical evolution and detect risk factors and indicate measures for their control or for a timely referral.
The future professionals will be those who respond to the needs of rural and urban women since, in many places in Mexico, there is a lack of access to sexual and reproductive health services.
To achieve the established objectives, the students rotate through the following services: Pediatrics, Outpatient, Admission, Expulsion, Recovery, Labor, and Hospitalization In public and private hospitals in addition to internships at CASA’s maternity clinic
They apply theoretical and practical knowledge by providing comprehensive care to women and their families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, as well as care for the newborn, considering the rights of pregnant women and being culturally sensitive with special emphasis on identifying risk factors.
It should be mentioned that the competencies of the midwifery care model are evidence-based, and are written with recognition of the different educational routes. And the core competencies for basic midwifery practice are complemented by supportive standards and guidelines for training, regulation, and clinical practice of midwifery.
