About the Maternity Clinic

CASA's Maternity Clinic, opened in 1994, was a space where an interdisciplinary team of traditional midwives, professional midwives, obstetric nurses, physicians, and specialists worked together to ensure women received the best treatment with dignity and respect. The main objective was to provide formal and comprehensive education to traditional midwives in the San Miguel de Allende area.

History and achievements

Throughout its years of operation, the clinic has achieved important achievements:

  • 17 generations of technical midwives: 120 women graduated from 12 states of the Mexican Republic and 3 countries.
  • More than 11,000 births: With transfer rates lower than 4% and mortality, maternal morbidity and low birth weight rates lower than 1%.
  • Midwifery Care Model: Efficient and effective, recognized for its quality and warmth in service.

Services offered

During its operation, the clinic offered the following services:

  • Prenatal care and consultation with a midwife
  • Ultrasound and general medicine
  • Clinical analysis laboratory
  • Counseling, implementation, and withdrawal of long-acting family planning methods

Clinic Closure

In February 2024, the decision was made to close the CASA Maternity Clinic to reorganize its operations. February 29, 2024, was the last day of operations and activities at the clinic.

Current services

Starting in April 2024, primary care services will be relocated to the CASA Community Center, where they continue to offer:

  • Prenatal care and consultation with a midwife.
  • Ultrasound and general practitioner.
  • Clinical analysis laboratory.
  • Counseling, implementation, and withdrawal of long-acting family planning methods.
