Virtual Campus

A free and open platform for everyone who wants to learn about sexual health and midwifery.

What is the Virtual Campus?

It is a free and open platform for the general public that began operating in September 2014 with the aim of improving public health skills and practices by leveraging and innovating in the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

The course is approved by the National Center for Gender Equity and Reproductive Health (CNEGySR), the General Directorate of Health Quality and Education (DGCES) of the Ministry of Health, and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). It is available on the PAHO Virtual Campus for Public Health, Mexico Node.

Aim

Promote professional midwifery through the use of virtual platforms and raise awareness among health providers about their roles and skills to ensure the inclusion of midwives in the interdisciplinary health team.

Target Audience

Health care providers and midwifery students within a human rights framework with an emphasis on reproductive justice.

Oaxaca, Veracruz, Morelos, Michoacán, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato and Guerrero

4,670 healthcare providers from different states have taken the Virtual Campus course in 2018, with personalized advice from midwives.

Progress in 2019

In 2019, the CASA Midwives in San Miguel de Allende enthusiastically welcomed a total of 68 professionals from the Ministry of Health.
