Indigenous midwives support the CASA project in San Miguel de Allende, following the approval of Standard 020, which recognizes their ancestral work.
San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato — Following the recent publication of Standard 020, Centro para los Adolescentes de San Miguel de Allende (CASA) seeks to transform its clinic, which has been closed for the past three years, into the first Center of Excellence in Traditional and Professional Midwifery.
The project was announced during Guardianas de Vida, a gathering of 85 Indigenous midwives from different parts of Mexico. Through this initiative, the San Miguel-based nonprofit aims to resume care for women at a center providing comprehensive services.
