Purpose
Develop the skills for diagnosis, therapy and contraception in the assistance to pregnant women in labor, post-labor and assistance to the newborn by following clinical evidence and detecting risk factors and providing measures for their control or timely referrals.
To achieve established objectives, students rotate through the following services: pediatrics, outside consultations, admission, release, recuperation, labor and hospitalization in public and private hospitals as well as practical experience at the CASA Maternity Clinic.
They apply their theoretical and practical knowledge in providing an integrated approach to assisting a women and her family during her pregnancy, delivery, puerperium as well as assistance to the newborn considering the rights of the pregnant woman and being culturally sensitive with special emphasis on identifying risk factors.
It is worth mentioning that the midwife competencies are based on evidence and are recognized by different educational institutions. The essential competencies for undertaking basic midwifery are complemented with the norms and guidelines of creating, regulating and clinical practice of the midwifery institution.
